Spent my entire Saturday at One Utama to catch the 15Malaysia screening and Youth For Change concert.

Bumped into Anna in City Harvest Church last weekend;

She’s been MIA from Monash for almost a year now.

And like many of my peeps who have asked me this semester; I asked her “what she’s been up to”.

Apparently she has taken a break from studying and started going into sales, insurance specifically.

I asked her why… (because i sure as hell did not take this break-by choice)

Her answer, “Because i wasn’t sure whether studying was for me“.

I GREW UP BELIEVING THAT TOO!

I didn’t know you could actually not study and opt for a career immediately?!
Well, i knew lah … but my parents would flip! Her honest answer made me reflect on my own purpose of being in the university, studying for a degree which I may have never agreed to.

On one hand, I wish i could be bolder; knowing what i want in life and stop whatever i’m doing, putting comfort and convenience aside and started pursuing my dreams of being an entrepreneur.

On the other, The 3 years i’ve spent in Monash has been filled with tons of breakthroughs and victories which has shaped me the person i am today. University life can’t be just about studies no? I will not trade the experience and friendship i’ve gained here for anything in the world.

Today, i suddenly felt as though i was back in my secondary school class. My classmates acknowledged one another, we laughed together, some started teasing one another, we even started pulling pranks on the new trainer. Yes, one Malaysia- United we stand. I must admit, i’m starting to enjoy the classes and activities.

For readers who still have doubts, this is going to be as honest as it gets.
This ‘Training’ is fully sponsored by our country’s Ministry of Human Resource to help retrenched workers and fresh graduates to learn new skills; specifically Sales in the banking industry.
The program structure began with ‘product training‘ including Hire Purchase, Deposits, Bank Assurance, Housing Loans and Unit trust.
Into week 3 now, we are trained on our presentation skills. After this, it’d be sales skills and lastly self mastery.

After 6 weeks of training, we will be given the opportunity to be interviewed by banks such as MayBank, CIMB Bank as well as Public Bank to be in their sales team.

In a nutshell, that’s what i have been ‘up to’;
can’t say that i fancy sharing this over and over again. Quit Asking! so yea, you get the hint.
